Products of the Future

In October, CEATEC, Japan's largest information technology and electronics fair showcased some great sustainable techniques of the future. 

The conference presented the newest and most high-tech energy saving digital electrical appliances, including solar power generators and electric cars.

One of the displays is this "smart house" that uses an electric car like a battery, storing energy generated from solar power that is later supplied to the house.

Folding Urban Greenhouse

Here's an innovative new product by Dutch designer Daniel Shipper.

It's a folding greenhouse made out of recycled plastics that folds flat for easy storage and moving. 

It seems like a great option for someone who isn't fully ready to commit to an actual garden, or for someone who might be limited in space. 

It's great to see new and fresh ideas to help people explore their green thumbs!

Wireless Charging

Are you concerned on how you are going to keep your new smart phone fully charged? A french company is developing thin film solar technology, where a small sheet can be place over your phone, Kindle or other devices to charge without wires. 

The time frame for this showing up in the U.S. is about a year. Check out the full article here. 

Guilt-Free Soaking.

Here's a simple design solution from New York product designer Rochus Jacob. The idea behind it is to reduce unnecessary water consumption during baths by using these recycled "rocks" to displace some of the water.
