Ecoballs - 1, Laudry Detergent - 0

Recently I stumbled across a laundry gadget called Ecoballs and have been intrigued ever since. Having often wondered how dishwasher and washing machine detergents affect our water treatment plants, ground water and environment in general, it is exciting to see that Ecoballs offer a gentler alternative to traditional detergents. Ecoballs are one of several environmentally and human friendly products made by Ecozone, a company started in 1997 in England. Go here to view the company website and full line of amazing products. I recently discovered the greatest website full of "secret kitchen cures" for basic health issues. I was seriously blown away by the different remedies presented....honestly, putting lettuce leaves on a sprain or strain?! What?! Too cool.

It seems like everyone these days is interested in simplifying their lives, including their living spaces. Check out this version of simplified housing: a shipping container converted into a stylish, modern home in Houston.

Double Duty

Denmark is scheduled to get a power plant disguised as a ski slope. The new plant will use waste to generate electricity, with the building being built around it creating the only downhill skiing opportunity in Copenhagen.

The ski slope will be constructed out of recyled synthetics and the blocks used for the exterior will double as planters, giving the building a green facade. It's not scheduled to open until 2016, which should give you time to tune your skis and make some practice turns before the opening. See here for more details.
